Rooftop Season

There is so much happening this weekend in Kansas City, I cannot contain my excitement. To start, it is the second First Fridays of the year in the Crossroads Art District and supposed to be gorgeous weather all weekend. With that, On Broadway will be having their monthly rooftop party that cannot be missed. Percheron on top of the Crossroads Hotel is officially open for business as well this weekend and it is quite magical. I had the pleasure to attend the opening on Thursday and can say with confidence the views and drink menu is stellar. I was able to try a few different cocktails but towards the top of my list I would put the “Paid Time Off” which to me was a spin on a classic painkiller and the loved the “Upper East Side”, a refreshing cucumber gin cocktail.

In the Power & Light district Steve Aoki will be performing in the KC Live Block Friday evening with GA tickets starting at only $20. Of course in the West Bottoms the Flea Markets will be in full force for the first weekends, and ready to mingle with you for great deals. On Saturday, annual Flyover Fest will be hosted at Providence Medical Center Amphitheater showcasing Cardi B, 21 Savage, and Kodak Black. Also Saturday afternoon, something I think no one should miss for some quality local music is the 7th Annual Troost Jazz & Soul Experience. Music will be provided by all local artists and special performance by the Lincoln Prep Jazz Band. This experience in past years has always been incredible and I encourage you to pop in during your busy weekend.

If you wish to bring out that Southern Belle we all have hidden deep down somewhere inside there is some Kentucky Derby celebrations going on this weekend all over town. It could be quite fun to get creative with a fancy outfit and even snazzier hat to make a statement. The Kansas City Museum Foundation will be hosting a Derby Party to benefit the Museum and many local vendors and distilleries will be there to help celebrate. Julep is getting into the Derby craze while hosting a Derby themed party starting at noon, and having the races on the big screens throughout the day. Of course there will be themed cocktails and snacks and a prize for the best dressed. Brims & Bow Ties will be hosted at the Kansas City Club in similar Derby fashion. Cocktails and d’oeurves will be provided with purchase of a ticket and all proceeds go to benefit the Boys & Girls club.

Lastly, we cannot forget about all the Cinco De Mayo celebrations that will be hosted all around the city. Some of which include, at Percheron (perfect opportunity to check out the new space and hopefully less crowded after the weekend), KC Dog fest at BarK with proceeds going towards a good cause. Other Cinco De Mayo parties include Port Fonda, El Patron, Zocalo, Brick House and seriously so so many more guys. I myself will be helping to host our own fiesta at home testing out a new taco recipe and a twist on your classic margarita all while enjoying the new GoT episode. I am excited to dive into lovely weather and all the events happening here this weekend. It is starting to finally feel like summer here in KC, don’t let your weekend waste away.I will see your lovely faces out and about.

Until next week,

Kimmy
